·         Another reason, which often goes unattended, is heavy exercise.

The best way to get rid of such issues is by opting for a surgery of breast reduction in India.

Why is a Surgery Important?

  •  It helps in changing and correcting the size, shape, weight and firmness of the organs.
  • It helps in making you more comfortable.
  • You can steer clear of annoying back pain, neck pain, and skin rashes.
  • You can get your posture corrected with this.
  • You can get rid of painful grooves formed due to wearing a bra.
  • You can become more active physically.
  • The surgery can enhance your looks and save you from embarrassment.
  • You can cure your depression.

What are the Types of Breast Reduction Surgeries?

  • This aesthetic surgery can be of the following types:
  • Traditional inverted T resection or anchor incision method.
  • Vertical incision pattern.
  • Scar-less procedure.

The Traditional Anchor Incision Method

This is considered to be the gold standard of the surgery. An incision is made each around the nipples and areola, which proceeds down vertically to the crease and then horizontally along it. The result is an incision of the shape of an anchor. The excess fat, skin and tissue are then removed through this and the nipples grafted to a higher location.

The Vertical Incision Pattern

This is a comparatively newer technique of breast reduction, which does not involve operative invasions like the traditional method. Thus, it has minimum scars with results that are very durable. However, it is not such a common technique as of yet. Surgeons carrying out this surgery make use of an incision around the areola, which proceeds down the boob. It forms a lollipop-like cut via which tissue, skin and fat are removed. It is very effective in people with moderately large boobs.

Scar-less procedure

This procedure makes use of liposuction for breast reduction. The incision is very minimal (even smaller than the vertical ‘lollipop’ incision). Scars are next to zero and usually located in places like the crease of the breasts or armpit. This method is awesome for those with fatty boobs. Moreover, it is beneficial because the chances of complications are very low. However, scar-less surgeries are not recommended for people with pendulous boobs.

What happens during the surgery?

The procedure will be carried out in a hospital under general anaesthesia, which means you can sleep throughout the procedure. But, it will not require you to stay overnight. The duration of the surgery will depend on the severity of the condition. Usually, it lasts for about three to five hours. Of course, prior to this, your surgeon will let you know about the technique he is opting.

Who Makes a Good Candidate for the Surgery?

  • The right candidate for the surgery is the one who has the following conditions:
  • Boobs, which are too large in comparison to the body.
  • Boobs with the nipples and areolas drooping.
  • Shoulder pain due to heavy boobs.
  • One boob considerably larger than the other.
  • Rashes in the bra lines.
  • Grooves in the region of the bra strap.
  • Difficulty in physical activities due to the heavy weight of the boobs.
  • Low confidence due to the way the boobs appear.

What is the Recovery Time?

You will be extremely uncomfortable for a day or two. So, have enough arrangements for relaxation. Of course, you will return to normal after around 48 hours. However, there are some effects which will last for a few weeks. So, you may need to wear a surgical bra for some time.

Is it Only for Women?

Never. Even men suffering from abnormally enlarged breasts (gynecomastia) can go for this surgery; it is equally effective in them.

How to Prepare for the Surgery?

Before you go under the knife, it is important that you stay in good physical conditions to ensure speedy and proper healing. Diet is something, which you can never compromise if you are about to undergo a breast reduction surgery. So, it is always wise to follow your doctor’s instructions for the correct food. Moreover, you must quit addictions, if any, or stop using over-the-counter drugs. Additionally, your doctor might ask you to lose weight so that you stay away from complications.

Any Risks?
  • Although rare, you may suffer from the following conditions post surgery:
  • Swelling.
  • Bruising.
  • Scarring.
  • Infection.
  • Loss of sensation.
  • Asymmetry and unevenness.

What to do After the Surgery?

  • Before you go inside the operation theatre, keep these things ready at your home:
  • Plenty of ice.
  • Clean, sterile gauge and towels.
  • Loose clothes.
  • Recommended ointments and medicines.
  • Magazines, books and movies.

Relax a lot after the surgery and always wear clean clothes. And yes, you will need to go for follow-up appointments with the doctor to change your dressing and sutures.
